Navigating Valencia's Metro System

The underground transport system and tram are run by Metrovalencia, and consist of approximately 9 lines. Each ticket enables passengers to switch between metro, tram and bus lines as necessary. Some of the city’s metro stations, such as Alameda, are famous for their architecture, meanwhile Colón station boasts its own exhibition space. Bicycles may be taken aboard.

  1. Opening Hours. From 04.00am to 11.00pm on weekdays, and from 05.00am to 00.30am on weekends. Services run around every 10 minutes, though frequency varies according to line.

  2. Season Tickets. Locals generally use the rechargeable SUMA travel card to get around the city. The Valencia Tourist Card is the best option for visitors. The personalized card offers unlimited journeys on public transport for 24 hours (15 euros), 48 hours (20 euros) or 72 hours(25 euros).

  3. Where can I buy them? The cards can be purchased from any Tourist Info point (Calle de la Paz, Town Hall, Joaquín Sorolla station and Valencia airport), from authorized kiosks, or online (www.valenciatouristcard.com).

  4. A tip… Thanks to Near Field Communication (NFC) it is now possible to wirelessly upload your journeys. Simply download the application from Google Play, hold your smartphone to the terminal and upload your journeys, instead of using your Móbilis card.
