Some autonomous communities have already begun to publish the start and end dates for the 2024-2025 school year, and the arrival of a new school year often causes doubts about non-teaching days.
Although national holidays affect the whole of Spain, each autonomous community has the power to choose when school term starts and ends.
Andalusia, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, La Rioja, Murcia, Navarra, the Basque Country, Ceuta and Melilla are still in the process of analyzing proposals, so their calendars for next year are still not official.
The holidays shared by schools throughout Spain are 12 October (Spanish national holiday), 1 November (All Saints' Day), 6 December (Constitution Day), 8 December (Immaculate Conception), 1 January (New Year), 6 January (Epiphany), 18 April (Good Friday) and 1 May (Worker's Day).
2024-2025 school calendar for Aragon
Aragonese infant, primary and secondary school students will start classes on 9 September 2024 and finish on 20 June 2025. Those studying for the Baccalaureate will do so from 12 September and finish on the same day.
The Christmas holiday will run from 20 December 2024 to 7 January 7 2025, inclusive. Holy Week will last from 11 until 21 April 2025.
The Cincomarzada celebration will be on Wednesday, 5 March; there will be no school on 23 April to commemorate the festival of Saint George; and 1 and 2 May will be free days too.
2024-2025 school calendar for Cantabria
Kindergarten and primary school pupils will begin classes on 9 September 2024 and finish on 23 June 2025. Secondary and Baccalaureate students will begin a day later, on 10 September, and will finish a day later, on 24 June.
Non-school days will be from 28 to 31 October 2024; from 23 December 2024 to 7 January 2025 (Christmas); from 24 to 28 February 2025 and from 17 to 25 April 2025 (Easter).
2024-2025 school calendar for Castille-La Manch
The school year in Castille-La Mancha will begin and end on the same day for all educational levels: 3 September 2024 and 19 June 2025, respectively.
The Christmas holidays will be from 26 December 2024 to 7 January 2025 and the Easter holidays from 11 to 21 April 2025.
In addition to the national holidays, there will be two regional holidays: 30 May 2025 for Corpus Christi and 31 May 2025 for Region Day.
2024-2025 school calendar for Castille and Leon
Infant and primary school students will start term on 6 September 2024, while secondary school students will begin on 12 September; Baccalaureate students will start on 23 September. The last day of class will be 23 June 2025 for all levels.
The Christmas holidays will be from 20 December 2024 to 8 January 2025 and the Easter holidays will be from 13 to 23 April 2025.
In addition to the holidays established in the Community's work calendar, such as 23 April, and the two local days set by each town, there will be holidays on 31 October 2024, 3 and 4 March 2025, and 2 May 2025.
2024-2025 school calendar for Catalonia
School term will begin on 9 September 2024 for preschool, primary and secondary school students in Catalonia, and on 12 September for high school students. All pupils will finish classes on 20 June.
The Christmas holidays will be from 21 December to 7 January, while the Easter holidays will be from 13 to 23 April 2025.
Catalonia has some non-school days, apart from national holidays. They are on 11 September to celebrate the Diada, and 26 December, which is Saint Stephen's Day.
2024-2025 school calendar for Madrid
Kindergarten and primary school students will begin the school year on 9 September 2024 in the Spanish capital. Secondary school, Baccalaureate and vocational training students will do so on 10 September. The last day of class will be 20 June, except for the first cycle of preschool (0 to 3 years old), which will end on 31 July.
The Christmas holidays will run from 21 December 2024 to Tuesday, 7 January 2025; while Holy Week will be almost a month later than this year: between 11 and 21 April 2025.
Additional holidays will be 1 November, 6 and 8 December 2024, 28 February and 3 March 2025.
2024-2025 school calendar for Galicia
There will not be, as in previous years, a start date for the school year for preschool and primary school students, and another for ESO and Baccalaureate, since, when the September exams are withdrawn, all students will begin and end on the same day: 11 September 2024 and 21 June 2025, respectively.
There will be three holiday periods: Christmas (from 23 December 2024 to 7 January 2025), Easter (from 14 to 21 April 2025) and carnival (3, 4 and 5 March 2025).
Additionally, students will not have class on 31 October 2024.
