Valencia Utility Companies

In Valencia, there are several companies that offer essential services such as gas, electricity and water, both nationally and regionally. Here is a summary of the main companies in each sector:

1. Electricity

In Valencia, consumers can choose between multiple suppliers that operate in both the regulated market and the free market. Some of the main companies are:

Main Suppliers

• Iberdrola: One of the main electricity companies in Spain, with a strong presence in Valencia. It offers both electricity and gas services.

• Endesa: Another of the large electricity companies, with a wide range of tariffs and services for homes and businesses.

• Naturgy: It offers electricity and gas supply, with personalized plans according to consumption.

• EDP: Although it has its origins in the north of Spain, it also has a presence in the Valencian Community.

• Repsol: Since its expansion into the electricity market, it offers combined electricity and gas rates.

• TotalEnergies: An international company that has gained ground in recent years.

Electricity Distribution

• In Valencia, electricity distribution (grid infrastructure) is mostly handled by Iberdrola Distribución, which is responsible for bringing electricity to homes and managing network incidents.

2. Natural Gas

The gas companies in Valencia are, for the most part, the same ones that offer electricity. The main ones are:

• Naturgy (previously Gas Natural Fenosa): Leader in the natural gas market in Spain.

• Iberdrola: Offers dual electricity and gas rates to facilitate the management of both services.

• Endesa: Sells natural gas with combined options together with electricity.

• Repsol: Offers natural gas and butane, with services aimed at homes and businesses.

• TotalEnergies: Increasingly popular in the Spanish energy market.

3. Water

The water supply in Valencia is not liberalized like electricity or gas, so it is usually managed through local concessionaires that depend on the municipality.

• EMIVASA: This is the joint venture that is responsible for supplying drinking water in the city of Valencia. It is owned by the City Council and Aguas de Valencia (Global Omnium).

• Global Omnium: This is a group based in Valencia that manages the entire water cycle in various towns in the province.

• Hidraqua: It operates in other areas of the Valencian Community, mainly Alicante and other cities.

• Aqualia: It manages the supply in some municipalities near Valencia.

Public Water Service

• The water in Valencia comes mainly from the Júcar and Turia rivers, along with reservoir and treatment systems.
